Ways to buy stuff cheaper
It's been a year and I never buy stuff on a normal price. I always find some sort of discount or a fair deal.
I have bounded myself to follow this shopping rule after I realised that most of the products, if not all will go on sale or promotions at some point. If you agree then why do you still buy stuff on a normal price? I save a lot on the goods I buy. In this article we look at the apps, tools and methods that can help you buy stuff cheaper.
Before we get to the tools you need to know this: You need to start by making a promise to yourself that you will never buy stuff on normal prices, unless you really need that thing and there is no time to look around. The second thing is you need to learn to procrastinate by taking more time to look around for better offers. I am not suggesting that you should always go to the mall and window shop. You can do your search online, or you can go to the mall once a month, the goal is to compare offers before you buy.
The following tools, methods and sources will assist you in searching and finding all things you want to buy at a cheaper price:
subscriptions
One of the ways to save some cash is through subscribing. This applies mostly in magazines & books. I buy a copy of Stuff Magazine every month and it's quite a lot. I have realised that If I subscribe for one year I will get 35% discount which is some good cash. With the 35% discount I can buy 3 movie tickets or pay a web hosting service for a year.
e-books
If you haven't noticed, e-books are cheaper than hardcopies. I have got myself into the habit of reading and the kind of books I read are a bit expensive. If you own a tablet or smartphone with a bigger screen you must consider buying e-books instead of hardcopies, anyway what did you buy that tablet for?
newsletters
Sign up for newsletters with your favourite stores and you will be notified of specials and promotions every time. You will never know when the stuff you want buy will be on promotion. What I have learned over the past year is that electronics and computer stores select certain products every weekend and put them on promotion. This increase the chances of finding the item you want on discount.
online specials
Most stores want to improve their e-commerce by encouraging customers to buy stuff online. To do this they have to promote and market online shopping by offering special prices for items bought online.
This is one of the first places you should go to if you want to find good deals and compare prices. Easy to use
pricecheck.co.za will provide you with offers of the product you searched for. It will show you from the cheapest offer to the most expensive (but why would you want to go for the most expensive?).
olx.com (App also available)
My favourite online store. Here you can buy, sell and exchange goods. Simply upload a picture of the product you want to sell or exchange, add product details and contact then you can wait for that call. People sell goods at some very good prices, both new and used goods. What I like the most is that you can negotiate your price.
If you are into mobile devices this is the website for you. When I discovered this site I could not believe some of the prices I saw. Smartphones a really cheap here, just visit and you will see what I am talking about.
Want to buy a car? This is the right place to check, compare and hopefully buy if you find a good deal.
You can download the App on your device and play around with it. You specify the model, type, mileage, price and type of dealership.
With property24 you can compare prices for a property of your choice.
You can use filters to specify the city, price range and type of property you are looking for. Both to-rent and to-buy properties.
The habit of looking of comparing offers won't only help you save money, but will help you buy stuff with value.
